I raced against time... but I lost.

A quarter to an hour, Coe and Dtil reached back to the V.A.L. central. The sky had turned dark as the sun sank into the horizon.

'Congrats on your training to level 7,' said Selph as she was browsing a handful of papers clipped on a file containing data about Coe on the passed 3 days training. 'I see you have drawn out some of the potential in you. But you have much more to learn. Unfortunately time is what we are insufficient of. Quickly put on your equipments.'

'I sensed that you had great strength in you,' said Dtil as they were walking along a narrow corridor. 'It took our founder 1 week though to reach level 7.' Coe remains silent as she was still confused of her purposes and the situation now.

Dtil leaded Coe to a changing room. The room was large enough for a tennis court. The clothes provided for the V.A.L units inside were enough for hundred. Other than that, the room also filled with countless high tech equipments and weaponry ranging from sword to spear to bow and arrows and even laser arms. Coe without delay dressed up in a dark blue suit and wore a protective device like Sher back then.

A few minutes later, she walked out from changing room. Selph was anxiously waiting for her. When Coe returned to the central room, she saw a lengthy wooden box crafted with silver adornment by the corner of the room which was not there a while ago. The box wasn't very attractive but enough to catch her attention.

'We have collected enough data from your training. From the result of this we have manufactured a suitable weapon for you,' said Selph as she pointed on the corner where the box located.

'But I have never trained with any weapon before.'

'Do not worry. You are a smart girl. This weapon will not be a hinder for you. But it will take some time before you could master it.'

-= Red Alert !!! Red Alert !!! A massive amount of unidentified life forms detected breaching through the North City, Sector 7. Please proceed to the location immediately. =-

'They have finally break through,' said Dtil in agonized. 'We have not fully evacuated that area. There are still a quarter of citizens left.'

'Ok Coe. I hereby acquaint you with your first mission. Go to the North Sector, evacuate everyone and stop the enemy at once.'

'Affirmative,' replied Coe.

In the west zone near distance from V.A.L. headquarter; Coe had entered the training ground for almost three days. The place was designed specially to train V.A.L. warriors. Even a supreme soldier could not withstand the hellish environment in it which was far more horrifying than anyone could ever imagine. No doubt, the Coe possessed extra ordinary power, but she still suffered fatigued after a mere three days.

The training inside was divided into 25 level. Even Selph completed up to level 21 in three months time.

As Coe was completing the 7th level, suddenly a voice commanded.

-= Attention! We are now entering in a state of emergency. Please proceed to the nearest exit immediately. =-

Coe walked out from the one place she could have never forgotten. As she stepped out from the huge metallic door, Dtil was already standing outside waiting for her. Dtil was surprised to look at Coe with her torn clothes and bruises she sustained all over her used-to-be soft and smooth skin. He could have never imagined the amount of suffering she had gone through.

What he saw was like a totally different person standing in front of him. He could hardly recognize her anymore. All he felt was the aura dispersed from her body which increased the intensity of the atmosphere around.

'What happened?' asked Coe. 'I've only entered for three days and I am still far from completing my training.'

It took Dtil a few second before he could came back to his consciousness and react.

'You look…. different,' replied Dtil. 'Sorry for my behavior. Unfortunately we do not have time for your training to be completed. The world is facing the worst situation now. But first you need to follow me quickly. Let's meet up with Selph in the Central Room.'

'Ok,' replied Coe as frown was shown as though she had already predicted what happened.

Chapter 2 - Training

Coe had entered the training facility for two days. In the meantime the demons were appearing much more rapidly throughout the city. The entire country was set in emergency status. Everyone was forced to evacuate from the city into bunkers provided outskirt. Although armies were dispatched to combat against the demons but it was almost to no use. The demons skins were as tough as diamond and their fang alone can tear down a heavy armored tank like using a shovel digging on a wet mud.

For 24 hours, they were fighting in a losing battle as Sher helped to evacuate the citizens. Although she was capable of killing the demons single handedly but the dead enemies were just replaced as quickly as waves hit the beach. She was forced to move back.

'Dtil how long more does Star takes to arrived?' asked Selph who was monitoring the city in the H.Q as she knows Sher wouldn't hold long.

'From the flight report, it would take approximately 4.5 hours,' replied Dtil.

'We do not have that much time now,' said Selph. 'Retrieve Coe at once.'

'But she is still in the training ground.'

'I know but right now we can't afford to lose another hour,' added Selph with a dismal tone.

'Alright, I understood.'

Dtil rushed to the training ground.

'The fate of the world will soon alter. Selph thought to herself as they were still searching for a solution to stop the adversary before it is too late. She knew their strengths alone are not adequate.

In the central room, Coe was still confused.

'How old are you?' asked Coe as she was querying in her mind how Selph knew so much despite her young age.

'I am 19. Three years ago when I discovered my strength I begun researched on the history of man kind and found the source of all this. Then I realized I wasn't the only one who possessed this strength. I discussed with the National Security and Bureau Corporation (NSBC). They supported me with modals and I formed the V.A.L. Organization with the help of the federation and agents around the world. And because of my specialty, I was given the role to lead the organization. From there I found a lot more of our kind.'

'How many have you found?' asked Coe.

'Currently there are five in this country and you are the fifth one I found. Time is really running out and we need the strength of yours. We will provide you with training as much as possible.'

'But I still have my family and school,' interrupted Coe.

'I will take care of that,' said Dtil.

'We have detected a massive negative energy formed under the city,' said Selph. 'The demons will rise very soon and destroy everything. That time there wouldn't even have any home for anyone. Anymore question?'

'Yes and what does V.A.L. stands for?'

Selph smile and answered, 'Valkyrie After Life.'

Dtil brought another girl into the room. She was wearing a dark blue suit holding a long silver metallic spear. The girl looked at the Coe with a pair of purplish but ferocious eyes.

'Coe meet Sher,' said Selph. 'She was the second person I found five months ago.'

'So this is the newly found girl,' said Sher.

'Yes she is,' responded Selph.

'She look weak too me in all form of aspect,' said Sher.

'You looking for a fight?' asked Coe as she was a little annoyed with her attitude.

'Enough,' interrupted Selph. 'We are here as a team, not for some silly argument between you two. Creeps have been found in sector 36. Sher proceeds to the location immediately. Eliminate the creeps without any hesitation. Take this disc and pin with you. The disc contained all data you need to know for this mission.' Selph handed a mini round disc to Sher as she slotted it into some kind of mechanical devices wrapped on her left arm. Then she tucked up the pin on her neck.

'Tsk… , Rank D… an easy one.' Sher walked out from the room. Then she drove her motorbike to the scene.

Within minutes Sher reached the destination, while Selph and Coe looked at the monitor screen which displayed Sher coordinate with Satellite Positioning System (S.P.S.) all the time.

'Take a look at here.' Selph told Coe as the screen showed one unsightly creature with fangs and tail looked similar to one of the creatures in her dream. Then Sher came in standing if front of the demon. Before the creature was able to make any move Sher disappeared and reappeared behind it before slashing the demon into half. Two more demons appeared beside her and swung their large arm. Sher dodged all the attacked without difficulty and spun her long spear in a circle killing both demons at the same time.

Then Coe saw Sher activated and talked to the device in her left arm; 'Mission accomplished'. Then she looked at the camera capturing her video as though she knew Coe was looking on the other side of the camera before Selph shut down the monitor.

'How did she do that?' asked Coe.

'She possessed extreme speed that even camera wouldn't be able to capture her movement that quick. All her previously missions were seems promising. That's why she is a little arrogant.' Coe became speechless.

'Basically this is our job,' said Selph. 'But those creeps we saw just now were nothing but the weakest demons among all. But for them to appeared three at the same time means the dark energies are spreading rapidly,' said Selph worriedly.

Coe stood in front of a young and beautiful lady wore a tight dark suit which displayed her sexy body figure.

'Who are you? What is this all about?' asked Coe thoughtlessly.

'My name is Selph. I am also just like you. Possessed strength and power far surpassed anyone.' Coe was shocked to hear it but before she could further contemplate, Selph brought her ahead to a wide computer screen built in a wall.

'Come look at this. This was the history of a long forgotten war. One we could have never imagined that could shape and obliterate the future easily if we do not carefully study in it.'

Inside the screen displayed a group of female warriors wearing armors and battling against an army of uncountable hordes. Some of the warriors were holding spears while some were holding crossbows. The enemies they were facing were dreadful creature of demons rose from the dark pit to destroy and rule the surface of the world. Coe were even surprised to see the history.

'These warriors were once called the Valkyries,' explained Selph. 'They were the one who protected the world and eliminated the evils.'

'So what is it got to do with us?' asked Coe.

‘You see. The crisis now started with the history. When the demons were eliminated, the dark energies did not dissipated with them but instead buried deep inside the heart of the planet just to wait for the right time to rise and rule the world again. And when the time comes, it'll be doom to the world.'

'That would be appalling,' interrupted Coe.

'Yes it is, but the Valkyries saved a last resort for the world. Maybe they knew something will happen in the future. So before they vanished along with the history, they channeled their power into human in hope that it will protect the future of the world. Generation by generation it passed down. If ever the demons were to rise again, the power in human will be awakened.'

'You mean…' said Coe.

'Yes it is. The demons are rising now and we are the chosen one. For we are the only hope to save the world and if we fail, the world will surely turn anguish.'

'I still don't understand all this.' Before Coe could further ask any question, suddenly an alarm was sounded and a computer generated voice announced:

-= Red Alert !!! Red Alert !!! Creep Detected. =-

'I'll answer more of this later,' said Selph in a serious tone. 'Dtil, get Sher on mode.'

'Yes madam,' replied Dtil as he ran out of the room quickly.

'We have an incident now. Maybe this is a good time for you to learn something first.'
